Camping at Armidale Showground

Organisers met with the caretakers on 12th July and confirmed that there are 30-40 powered sites and at least double that number of tent sites available.

The area reserved for orienteers is known locally as the Livestock Centre (Armidale Exhibition Centre) across the road from the main showground complex,  which will see the orienteers away from the throngs coming in for the Cold Chisel concert.

So get in early by calling the caretakers – Ann and John  mb 0400639630

Alternate possibilities:

Check out hotels, motels and caravan parks in Bendemeer, Tamworth, Guyra, Bundarra, Walcha, Wollomombi. They are all within a reasonable drive to the events.

Camping:

Also there are two caravan parks in Armidale plus 2 in Uralla for campers.

Think outside the box:

Try Camplify where you can hire caravans, camper trailers, motor homes etc.  It is possible to get the caravan put onsite for you.  https://www.camplify.com.au/

There are plenty of powered sites at the showground.

Specimen Map Glenburnie

We have created a specimen course for you to have a look at using a section of the new map that will not be used for the events.

If you click on each control you will get a photo of the actual control. This will provide an idea of what you will experience at the Australian Middle, Long and Relay at this year’s AOC 2024.
The map and course can be found on the Events page.

Donations to support AOC 2024

Tax deductible donations to the AOC 2024 can be made via the Australian Sports Foundation.  These donations will support our aim to provide an outstanding carnival experience. Donations can be made via the  Australian Sports Foundation donation page

To enhance the arena experience and for those at home we are planning to have quality arena presentation at the Australian Orienteering Carnival for all seven events. This will involve having live video feed from multiple cameras to the big screen in the arena, live feed to the internet and live tracking of the athletes during the competition. This carnival includes the Australian Schools Championships at which state teams compete against two teams from NZ. These athletes are the future elites of our sport.
